Something Wicked This Way Comes

My very first post on my brand new site. Exciting!

This wedding invitation suite was a special project for me. It was for my very own wedding! It was very hard to decide what to do for our special day and we had revised our ideas many times over our engagement period. My fiance Bill and I wanted to have a Halloween themed wedding but we wanted to avoid the routine picks for a wedding with this theme.  We looked for more of a Haunted Mansion look I suppose rather than just Halloween. A look as if  a Victorian Mansion had long been abandoned. We also wanted the invites to still look somewhat elegant as they are for a wedding after all.

Growing up, celebrating Halloween was never “cute“. It was suppose to be scary. That was the fun of it.

I designed our invitation suite in Photoshop. The main invite is 5×7 in size and has many layers that encompass what we love: The vintage banner and scroll border clip art, the bat, and skeleton trees, a stone gray background with texture. The RSVP which is 3.5×5 and Directions sheets which are 3.5×6.75 match the same background as the invite. The human heart sketch although disturbing to some, compliments the rest perfectly (We think anyway!).  For my fellow font nerds out there, the fonts used throughout are: Mailart Rubberstamp, Ornatique, LHF Monogram English, HLT Anna Clara.

The trifold with pocket that this all sits in, both size envelopes and the scalloped insert for the heart were purchased from Cards and Pockets. They have so much to offer on this site! Do check it out.

We also wanted custom postage to complete the look. We purchased this crow stamp on Zazzle. Our local post office supplied the black and gray Rose forever stamps with the small red heart for the RSVP envelopes.  All of the invitation pieces were printed through our local Fedex Office. They did a great job, we will use them again.

We printed each guests address individually ourselves via Photoshop and our HP printer at home and inked a few images onto the envelopes with  rubber stamps for a finishing touch. Off to the mail they went. Everyone who has received one LOVED them!

My hope with launching this new site, is for people to feel comfortable giving me their ideas and allowing me to create something so special that reflects them, their theme or ocassion and isn’t cookie cutter. So drop me a line on my contact page and we can begin your special project! I look forward to creating with you and for you:)
